Who we are
Rimmofatt! is a project by Sapobi, a small software studio. It started with a simple question: what's left of the Neapolitan Smorfia today, outside the homes where it has always been told? There are the numbers, the dreams, the saints and the proverbs that people in Naples still use every day. What was missing was a place to keep them together, read them at your own pace and come back to them.
Rimmofatt! is that place: an almanac, with the ninety numbers and what they mean, a saint and a proverb for every day, and guides for anyone who wants to understand more. Plus an app where you can tell your dreams and keep them in your Journal.
The numbers
The numbers and their names are those of the Neapolitan Smorfia as it has been handed down: 'o micillo (the kitten) is 3, 'o muorto (the dead man) is 47, 'a paura (fear) is 90. On each number's page, along with its meaning, you'll find the entries the 19th-century Smorfia tied to it, spelled the way they were back then.
How the texts are made
The texts on the site — what the numbers mean, the saints' stories, the guides — are written by the Rimmofatt! editorial team. We use AI tools for first drafts and for research, but nothing goes out until a person has read it, corrected it and approved it: every text goes through our back office, where it stays a draft until someone decides it's ready.
In the saints' stories, we try to keep what's documented apart from what's tradition or legend. The proverbs are the ones people actually say in Naples, with a translation and what they mean.
AI in the app
When you tell a dream in the app, the reading you get is written by an AI, starting from your dream and the images of the Smorfia: we say so under every reading. Your readings are yours: they stay in your Journal and don't become public unless you choose to share them.
What Rimmofatt! is not
Rimmofatt! is entertainment: a way to read dreams with the Smorfia, out of curiosity and for fun. It doesn't predict the future, doesn't promise winnings and doesn't take bets. The Smorfia tells stories; it doesn't tell fortunes.
