From fear to hope regained

A friend of mine lost his job in March and for six months found nothing. In September he got a call from a place where he’d sent his résumé almost out of habit, and now he earns more than before. When we met up he told me the strange part wasn’t finding the job: it was realizing that, in the worst months, he had stopped believing anything could change. And yet things kept turning all the same.
