I was offered two jobs in the same month. One paid less and started right away; the other paid double but would start in January, maybe. I took the one that started right away. In January I happened to run into the guy from the other offer: he told me the project had never gotten off the ground in the end. We were at a café; he ordered a coffee, and while he drank it he stared out the window.
