An unexpected hospital visit

When I had emergency surgery, three people came to see me in the hospital. Two were the ones I expected, and one wasn’t: a coworker I’d talked to maybe ten times. He showed up with a bottle of water and a phone charger, which was the thing I needed most and that nobody else had thought of. He stayed a quarter of an hour and hardly spoke.
