The smile in the rain
The kid who delivers pizzas in my neighborhood rides his scooter in the rain with a calm on his face I’ve never seen on anyone. One evening I asked him if he wasn’t cold. He said winter is worse, but it passes anyway. Then he looked at his scooter, which is old and beat-up, and added that at least if someone steals it he won’t lose anything. He rode off with red hands.
